The Mexican veteran returns to the grid with Cadillac after a year away, having exited Red Bull at the end of 2024 by mutual agreement. Pérez debuted in 2011 and built his reputation as one of the most experienced overtakers and tyre managers on the grid, with eleven Grand Prix victories — most of them during his Red Bull stint between 2021 and 2024, including team-mate to Verstappen during Red Bull's championship dominance.
Joining a brand-new team for its debut season is a very different challenge from defending titles, but Pérez's experience and commercial appeal — particularly in the Americas — make him a logical choice for Cadillac's first F1 line-up. Expectations are modest in year one, with the focus on developing the team rather than chasing results.
